The best way to extend the life of your plumbing fixtures and water heater is to install a water softener or water conditioner in your home. These systems are designed to stop scale build-up, protect pipes and fixtures and make all appliances that use water more efficient.
You should call Kenmoore Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning right away. Leaking water heaters typically indicate the bottom of the tank has rusted. There are really no good repairs for this problem. You most likely need a new water heater.
Take the time to inspect your pipes occasionally. If rust or lime is depositing on them, this may indicate that a leak is starting. If this is happening, contact Kenmoore Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning to address the problem. Leaking pipes can damage floors and belongings and become much more costly than if the problem was detected early.
This is an annoyance and can waste water and money. Leaky toilets can cost almost $100 extra per year on your water bills. If the toilet continues to run into the bowl after the toilet is flushed, it indicates that some part of the mechanism is out of order. Sometimes a little jiggling of the flush valve mechanism solves the problem. Otherwise you may need to replace the entire mechanism. Contact Kenmoore Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning to diagnose the problem.
Broken or clogged garbage disposals are often caused by misuse of the machine. Never put non-biodegradable items down the garbage disposal, including glass, metal, or plastic. Most soft, biodegradable materials are acceptable, as are some hard, biodegradable materials such as eggshells, ice and small chicken bones. Avoid putting hard-to-break-down food items through the disposal and always run cold water when using the disposal as this can reduce the amount of fats and oils that are allowed to congeal within the pipes.
Yes. Regular maintenance services and tune-ups extend the lifespan of your system, increase its efficiency and provide an opportunity for technicians to catch and address minor issues before they become major problems. This ultimately saves you money, time and stress. When it comes to maintaining your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, making sure there is an unrestricted air flow is the most important.
If you have disposable filters, we recommend that you replace them at least once a month. If you have washable filters, it’s best to have them cleaned once a month. Kenmoore Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning provides service agreements for this regular maintenance.
Programmable thermostats are usually electric, making them more efficient and accurate than their traditional, mercury-based counterparts. Programmable thermostats can also allow you the ability to automatically set the ideal temperature for different seasons or times of the day (we recommend 75-80 degrees in summer, 68 -72 in winter) without having to constantly adjust the thermostat.

At horizon services, we can assist you with water heater repairs, replacements, and new system installations. Our technicians can help you select the right size and type of water heater for your home.
